Hey, I’m DJ! I’m a graphic designer with two decades of agency experience creating local, national, and international marketing campaigns.
Featured Work

VA Dept of Education
Project
SEL Learning Guidebook
Description
The Virginia Dept of Education needed a set of several guidebooks that would show educators and administrators both the necessity for SEL learning, as well as how they might implement it. Several books were created, each geared toward teaching individual age ranges.

Har-Tru
Project
Souvenir T-Shirts
Description
Har-Tru’s typical customer had been those involved in the construction and maintenance of tennis courts, but they wanted to increase their visibility. Initially created as part of their sponsorship of the Credit One Charleston Open, these shirts helped introduce Har-Tru to a wider audience.

“2+2 Company”
Project
Direct Mail Campaign
Description
This national campaign consisted of a number of different letters, buckslips, and envelopes. The work was white-labeled, so certain details have been altered to obscure the client company. This project also showcases my experience with technical processes like variable data.

KidMed Urgent Care
Project
Social Media Posts
Description
This was a multi-image Instagram post for a local Virginia urgent care clinic for children and teens, intended to warn parents about both the dangers and warning signs for dehydration in the warm summer days.

What I Do Best

Print Design
I specialize in print layout and design, with experience in print ads, brochures, stationery suites, flyers, posters, billboards and outdoor banners, direct mail, signage, and much more.

Digital Design
I have experience creating designs for sites, landing pages, emails, social media, and web ads. I also work with developers to ensure those designs are implemented accurately throughout the coding process.

Packaging Design
I have experience with creating custom designs for clothing, as well as merchandise like bluetooth speakers, keychains, and coffee mugs.

Long-form Documents
I’ve created catalogs and reports for national and international organizations. For those documents which will be experienced online, I also ensure full compliance with WCAG Accessibility standards.

Motion Graphics
I have created motion graphics for simple social media posts, along with more ambitious projects like a new logo reveal for a client’s business, and the stadium graphics for a national sports tournament.

Logo Design
I’ve been creating brand identity designs since I began my career. In addition to a logo created with our modern digital world in mind, I also provide a full brand with color swatches and brand fonts to complement your logo.
Work Experience
2024 – Present
Freelance Creative Director
Self-Employed
After relocating internationally in 2024, I transitioned to freelance work, providing creative direction and design services for clients across digital and print channels. I managed projects independently from concept through delivery across multiple time zones, all while staying current with industry trends and tools. Now that I’m back in the US, I’m ready to bring that global perspective and independent work ethic to a permanent position where I can contribute to a team long-term.
2020 – 2024
Art Director
Owen Design Co.
As Art Director, I steered the creative ship, working directly with clients to shape campaigns from concept to execution and making sure the work looked sharp and actually worked. I expanded the studio’s toolkit with accessibility-focused design, landing page builds, and motion graphics. I also mentored team members and wrangled contractors to keep projects on track.
2019 – 2020
Junior Art Director
Owen Design Co.
When I joined Owen Design, I shifted from working with regional businesses in Texas to collaborating with household-name clients in Virginia and beyond. I dove into print, web, and branding projects that reached national and even international audiences, helping to shape creative themes that tied entire campaigns together. Along the way, I worked closely with clients and coordinated with part-time and contract talent to make sure the ideas actually landed in the real world.
2013 – 2019
Creative Director
L2 Marketing
At L2, I wore two hats: still designing day-to-day while stepping up to direct full campaigns. That meant planning and producing commercial shoots, guiding the look and feel of multi-channel projects, and keeping everything cohesive from the first brainstorm to the final delivery. It was a crash course in balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on design.
2007 – 2013
Graphic Designer
L2 Marketing
I handled just about every design need that came through the door, from logos and websites to broadcast graphics. I also found myself presenting to clients, teaming up with account managers, and generally proving that a good designer can wear a dozen hats at once. This role was the foundation for everything I’ve done since, giving me the confidence to grow into leadership without losing my love of making great work.
